1. What is superannuation?

Superannuation is money held for your retirement. As you don’t intend to retire in Australia when you leave Australia and your visa has expired then you can claim this money.

2. How much do I get and what’s it cost?

Australian law has a superannuation guarantee whereby your employer must pay 9% of your wage into your designated fund. Unfortunately, when you claim this money back the government takes 35% as tax and we will take our fee of $250.

Certificate of Immigration Status (if required) =$55 (Disbursement to client)

3. When can I get it?

Simply, once you leave Australia and your visa has expired. THEN, you can complete our application form, around two three months after completed, you will receive a present from Australia into your bank account.

That being said, preparation while you are in Australia can save you bucket loads of time later on. The only necessary certified document that can’t be done in Australia is your departure stamp in your passport. The rest can be certified IN Australia.

So our recommendation, if you can swing by…. DO!!!

4. What if I don’t know my superannuation account number or who it is with?

Many people don’t get their money because they don’t know this!!! BUT NEVER FEAR all you need to know is which super fund your money is with. If you can’t remember then simply give us your previous employer’s details and we will ask them for you.

5. The sad truth about super

Many people will have a different Super account for everyjob they have in Australia, when this happens you should work out how much is with each fund and either roll them together before withdrawel or only apply to the larger funds.
